Description

The Todd Promenade, Saturday, April 20th

Join us for The Todd Promenade, an afternoon of workshops in celebration of the Appalachian tradition of community square dancing, music and flatfoot dancing!
 
Phil Jamison, who has mastered and documented traditional Appalachian square dance calling, music, and flatfoot dancing will lead the primary workshop of square dance calling. Accomplished local musicians and dancers will offer supplementary workshops in dance musicianship, flatfooting, and sound system set-up
at @thetoddmercantile and Blackburns’ Chapel from 1-5pm, with a potluck at 5:30pm, and culminating community dance to follow at 7pm.
 
The cost is a sliding scale of $15-$30 per person and includes the evening dance. All are welcome and scholarships are available!

Come early for the potluck (starting at 6pm) and please bring a dish to share. Get ready to get down to some old-time tunes with your friends and neighbors (starting at 7:30). Time to start practicing your promenade! No experience or partner necessary!
