Description

This Annual Appalachian Christmas Concert is a gift to the people of the High Country. We celebrate the giving spirit of Mountain Home Music’s founder, Joe Shannon, by honoring Joe’s vision for preserving our traditional mountain music, singing, dancing and spoken word.  The performers donate their talents to present this special concert that serves as a fundraiser for The Hospitality House of NW North Carolina.

The concert is free, but a Love Offering will be collected and shared between these two wonderful community non-profits.

Giving of their time and talents for 2025 are the following friends of Mountain Home Music:

Mary Greene – Mary has been a part of Mountain Home Music since its beginning 31 years ago. A close personal friend of Joe Shannon, Greene plays both lap dulcimer and guitar and piano. She will be joined by Mountain Home Music board member Bob Goddard.

David Johnson – David Johnson has been a mainstay at Mountain Home Music and is a two-time Studio Musician of the Year Award recipient. He was in the first class of musicians, along with Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, David Holt and the Carter Family, to be inducted into the prestigious Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame.

Steve Lewis- national banjo champion and Walnut Valley National Bluegrass Banjo Champion, and member of the Jeff Little Trio and member of the Mountain Home Bluegrass Boy’s

Pickin’ Thistles – A sibling trio blending Celtic, bluegrass, and folk, creating a unique sound that captivates listeners. Delivering unforgettable performances, they aim to bring their joy of music to life.

Fern Hill – Music runs through the roots of Fern Hill, just like the Appalachian soil they grew up on. Arwen and Lorien Cockman started playing before they could walk, performing with their father, John, and his family band, The Cockman Family. Over the years they have developed their own unique and dynamic sound that weaves together Appalachian, Canadian, Celtic and Western influences.

Nora Weatherby, Gordy Hinners & Rebecca Keeter with more to be announced!
