Liam Thomas Bailey is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Hickory, North Carolina. Liam recently relaunched his solo career after spending a decade as a sideman to notable Nashville country artists, including Rodney Atkins and Brett Eldridge. Over his diverse twenty year career, Liam has earned a name on guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, piano and harmony vocals. Now refocused on his original solo material, his music incorporates a fresh approach to the banjo and fiddle playing frontman, while drawing from a deep understanding of the Americana, Celtic and Bluegrass musical lexicon. Liam will be releasing his first solo album in over a decade, “Hands & Knees,” to be released in Spring 2020.

Liam grew up in the Northeast and spent high school years in the Netherlands. The son of a music teacher, he spent his childhood learning numerous instruments and graduated from Berklee College of Music with a BA in Film Scoring. He began his career working in commercial post-production where he composed, performed and produced media for nationally syndicated television commercials including Mattel, American Express, Washington Trust and many others. His music has been featured on PBS, HBO, ESPN and several A&E programs including Pawn Stars, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Say Yes To the Dress. In 2006, Liam left post-production to pursue his interests on the stage. He spent the next 11 years performing with internationally recognized country artists including Rodney Atkins, Brett Eldredge and others. For over a decade, he has performed for audiences on landmark stages such as Red Rocks, The Grand Ol Opry, Radio City Music Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, The Beacon Theater and Times Square on New Years Eve. He has supported artists on tv shows including Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, the Tonight Show, Good Morning America and The Today Show and has participated in the tours of Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Brooks and Dunn, Martina McBride, ZZ Top, Willie Nelson and others. He has played on both the ACM and CMA Award programs multiple times and has participated in 3 USO tours in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Alaska.

In 2016, Liam decided to refocus his energies on writing and performing his own material. He currently maintains an active performance schedule with a diverse lineup of virtuostic ensembles and is working with One Riot Music Publishing in Nashville. Liam is a passionate private instructor and music teacher, and a devoted husband and father. Learn more at https://liamthomasbailey.com/

Some people call him a storyteller, historian, father. Shoot, if you’ve got the time, he could fill you in one everything he’s been called. But first and foremost, he’s a Black veteran from the rural South who finds himself floating between life in academia, public speaking, podcasting, storytelling, parenting, and tending to the goats in his backyard. And somehow he’s landed smack dab in the middle of audio production. Who knows what’s next?

King Street, Boone, NC Tickets: $15 - $29 ]]>

Mountain Home Music is pleased to present the Jeff Little Trio! The Mountain Home Bluegrass Boys open the show with special guest, Tucker Conner!

Jeff Little is an award winning musician from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. With few exceptions, the piano does not play a prominent part in Appalachian or Americana music, and is rarely the lead instrument. But Jeff Little is an exception – and a remarkable one. Jeff has not only been recognized as a critically acclaimed musician but also a true innovator in acoustic music. Jeff stays busy traveling the country performing concerts with an energy and dedication to his music that is evident at every show. In 2014 Jeff was inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame. In addition, Jeff is Artist in Residence for the Popular Music Program at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. The Jeff Little Trio is comprised of Jeff on piano, Steve Lewis on guitar and banjo, and Luke Little on mandolin.
The Mountain Home Bluegrass Boys have been a Mountain Home Music staple for the past 29 years. The stories behind the origins of the Mountain Home Music “house band” lead directly back to the concert series’ founder, Joe Shannon. Fronted by two-time national Studio Musician of the Year David Johnson, with two-time National Banjo Champion and MerleFest and HendersonFest Guitar Champion Steve Lewis, plus master musicians Scott Freeman on mandolin and Josh Scott on bass.
Tucker Conner is a member of the Boone Junior Appalachian Musicians (Boone J.A.M.) and performed at the inaugural Boone’s Got Talent showcase, and as part of the Doc Watson Day celebration at the Jones House!

Mountain Home Music presents Beer & Banjos Boone h
osted by The Dawgful Dead

BEER & BANJOS is a free music series presented on the second Thursday of each month in partnership with SouthEnd Brewing and the Dawgful Dead. The house band of all house bands, the Dawgful Dead kick things off at 7PM, followed by a local or regional act at 8PM. This month, The Asheville Mountain Boys makes their Beer & Banjos debut!

THE DAWGFUL DEAD is a talented band that combines the improvisational spirit of the Grateful Dead with the virtuoso playing of the David Grisman Quintet to create a unique, high-energy sound that’s sure to get you dancing. Featuring jaw-dropping solos, intricate harmonies, and an infectious love of music, The Dawgful Dead is a band that’s not to be missed. Band Members include Adam Williams, Patrick Holmes, Chuck Mantooth, Craig Barnette, Ben Parker, Mike Mckee and Owen Parker.

THE ASHEVILLE MOUNTAIN BOYS are on a mission to capture not just the style but the spirit of traditional bluegrass. Asheville, NC has long been known for great music and its roots in bluegrass go back to the founding of the genre (Bill Monroe’s first broadcast performance as the Bluegrass Boys was at Asheville radio station WWNC in 1938) A group that firmly stakes its claim to the tradition of the music from the area, The Asheville Mountain Boys spring onto the scene with a thought,” What happened to bluegrass?” It’s not a disparaging one that condemns current styles in the genre but rather asks, “Why do we love this music in the first place” and answers with an approach that is true to the originators of the genre in the sense of both style and philosophy. Bluegrass is raw emotion, excitement, drive, and authenticity. It is not sanitized or compromised but a reflection of the lives of those who play it. It’s storytelling that follows a throughline of tradition. With these priorities in mind, they offer their first in a series of live-recorded singles. Your introduction to the band is “Another Day” a classic tune written and first recorded by Reno and Smiley in the late 50’s. This song choice and performance fit the ethos of the Boys showing the musical prowess of the group which includes John Duncan on banjo, Zeb Gambill on mandolin, Jacob Brewer on bass and vocals, and Marshal Brown on guitar and vocals. The group plans to release more live music this year with studio recording to follow. https://ashevillemountainboys.com/

Our series is free to attend, but we rely on donations to pay the bands a living wage and cover professional sound costs. This support not only helps the artists but also enhances the quality of the performances, creating a memorable experience for all attendees. If you enjoy the series, please consider supporting it with a fully tax-deductible donation. Support Beer & Banjos and help us keep the arts alive and thriving.
